When I turn my cell phone on every morning, the first it says to me is live with intention; your work is everywhere in my life. I've carried your work to my parent's house, my office - hell, it's even in the bathroom! And of course, there's the mary anne wall, which I pass everyday as a reminder of purpose and meaningfulness in my everyday actions.

Mary Anne,
Our daughter, Hanna McKeen, met you years ago in your shop at Cannon Beach. She is now a senior at Eastview High School in Apple Valley, Minnesota, was awarded the National Council of Teachers of English National Writing Achievement Award, is first in her class of 522 students, was just selected English Student of the Year, an award to a senior, and plans to go to college (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill or Northwestern University, hasn't decided yet) to major in journalism (to pay the bills) and creative writing (because she loves it). She wrote a little piece in her high school creative writing class that then morphed into the attached piece about an inspiration in her life. I thought you might like to read it since you were her inspiration. Her many English teachers have all heard stories of Cannon Beach and of Mary Anne Radmacher and have now rekindled her love of writing, so as a thank you to them, she has ordered a few of your posters that relate to writing to give to them at the end of her high school years and was excited to see that you also signed them! Thanks for spending your time those years ago for that little 3rd grader at the time!

about mary anne's classes

I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed taking the "Personal Symbol" class. I had no idea that it would be so emotional (that's not normally me) ...but it was amazing what you could tell from each of our "doodles."

I wanted to thank you for the gift you gave us all last Friday. - mainly your company - but also for your expertise. I know for a fact that we all enjoyed ourselves.
Admiringly,

about mary anne's book

LEAN FORWARD INTO YOUR LIFE

Every once in a while if we are lucky, a book finds us and, once read, leaves an indelible mark for the rest of our lives. It's the book you tell everyone about, the book that touches your heart and your soul, the book you leave on the night stand with folded pages and highlighted verse. This is one of those special books. Mary Anne takes words and arranges them into sentences and feelings you will never forget. Buy this book for yourself and every important person in your life.

- Deborah Stephens, co-author of THIS IS NOT THE LIFE I ORDERED

LEAN FORWARD INTO YOUR LIFE is a book about boldly looking forward and daring to move through life's obstacles with honesty, joy and velocity. Mary Anne Radmacher is someone who demands that we "live with intention" and it is clear that her intention is to be an explorer: always charging into the unknown, logging her journeys, and charting new landscapes for the benefit of the rest of us. LEAN FORWARD is the most comprehensive map she has created for our enjoyment thus far.

- Dallas Dellinger, Editor, Quotable Cards

LEAN FORWARD INTO YOUR LIFE is not only poetic art, it is memoir at its most unveiling, wrapped in Mary Anne's gentle guidance for living a fuller, generous life. This is a book of healing and grace meant to give to one's friends and, yes, to give as a gift to oneself. Bravo!

- Jane Kirkpatrick, author of A CLEARING IN THE WILD and A LAND OF SHELTERED PROMISE
